I made this quilt from drawings Anita had sent to my friend Matty. There was no design layout just the drawings (I scanned and photoshopped them to print as close to the original as possible on printable fabric.)
Next I pieced the center poem and chose a pile of fabrics that may coordinate.
Once I had borders I attempted several different layouts. A few of the borders had to be adjusted to make a matching sized pair for either side. 2in blocks make a nice filler as well and happened to fit evenly. A design wall came in very handy during this process. The next step was filling in the top and bottom of the center. I made 2 embroidery blocks. The top is one of a moon and around it says "We always have the moon". The bottom reads "Bubby <3 Babbygirl". Their nicknames for each other.
The finished result of 3 days and a few freakouts is a one of a kind throw quilt (tied) for Anita's Birthday. This was Matty's idea, Anita's art work and my eccentric style combined making something very enjoyable :)
